Women Who Code Rings Opening Bell at NYSE

The Women In Tech Advocacy Group Was Represented by CEO Alaina Percival and a Team of Network Leads and Members

SAN FRANCISCO, January 20, 2015 Women Who Code (WWCode), a 501c3 dedicated to helping women excel in technology careers, had the honor of ringing the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) morning bell in an event that was seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world. In attendance was WWCode CEO and Board Chair Alaina Percival as well as Network members and organizational leaders from across the United States.

“We’re honored and empowered by this opportunity, which symbolically demonstrates the real impact that women in technology can have on the economy,” said Alaina Percival. “But this is only the beginning. Our goal is to bring education, inspiration, and support to women everywhere, and help them to find a successful career in the growing tech industry.”

A team of Women Who Code Leaders and Members assembled from across the country to be in attendance, flying in to New York last minute from locations as far away as Georgia, and California. This includes WWCode Board Vice Chair Zassmin Montes de Oca, Global Leadership Director Joey Rosenberg, and the VP of Business Development Jennifer Tacheff. They were also joined by representatives from several of their most supportive sponsors including VMWare and Capital One.


Women Who Code formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011, was incorporated in 2013, and was awarded tax-exempt status in June of 2014. Since then they have expanded rapidly, with local Networks launching in over 20 countries and a worldwide membership which has grown to include more than 50,000 people.
