Miami— Architect Chad Oppenheim headlined a roster of speakers at Pérez Art Museum Miami "PAMM" in collaboration with Unconventional Talks series on Saturday, September 6th. The evening: themed "Healing Living: Selections from a Simple Life," was hosted by Miami-based design firm Bekanze.
Oppenheim offered perspective and shared anecdotes with 100 attending PAMM members on his journey as an architect and "alchemist of atmosphere," weaving in personal stories of his family foraging, hunting and connecting with nature, and the profound effect the experiences have had on their lives.
According to Oppenheim, our goal should be to live with the land, not on the land. “By making architecture submissive to the beauty of nature, we help people see its essential need to our lives,” says Chad Oppenheim, founding principal of Oppenheim Architecture + Design.
Chad and wife Ilona Oppenheim are publishing their first lifestyle/cookbook, due out next year (Artisan Books, 2015) and have just launched Housewild, a new online platform of food adventures, recipes and design stories chronicling their experiences.
