Announcing Scent & Violet Floral Shop’s Grand Opening

Scent & Violet celebrated its grand opening on one of the biggest holidays for florists. The shop opened its doors, almost by accident, on Mother’s Day. The Houston florist delivered more than 100 floral arrangements to moms in the area for their special day, when the floral shop opened for the first time in the city. The original start date was planned for April.

According to owner, Amra Kolasinac, the Mother’s Day start was before the florist’s marketing campaign got underway. As a result, visitors were driven to the shop by word–of–mouth. Kolasinac’s friends rallied around her, and patrons received the excellent customer service and professional touches that one would expect from a flourishing floral business. Kolasinac and her dream team were able to pull it off, and deliver an amazing experience for their customers, before perfecting a Mother’s Day marketing campaign without the luxury of billboards, business cards or a phone system that was ready to meet high demands. The shop utilized social media to drive visitors to the shop for special Mother’s Day discounts and hors d’oeuvres.

Everything is in place for the florist shop’s continued success, including the Scent & Violet’s staff. One full time and four part time employees operate the Houston floral company.

Scent & Violet is a dream come true for owner Kolasinac, who says she “caught the bug”, and gained valuable business knowledge, while working in an Aunt’s floral shop in Bosnia. Through the years, Kolasinac learned, in her words, that “knowledge is the key to staying alive in business”. She went on to say, “I have learned that local economic offices (SBA, Score, University Centers) offer a lot of short courses in all aspects of running a business. It can be a bit challenging to attend, but very often it is worth the time.”

“I always wanted my own shop”, and now she has one. Kolasinac made good use of the business knowledge she gained from the information that was available to her and is building a viable floral business in Houston.

Scent & Violet customers may buy flowers direct from the store or order on line from ScentAndViolet.com. Visitors to the store or online customers will find beautifully designed floral arrangements that are very affordably priced.
