Earth Month gift of $3,000 from Bristol Seafood Grill will present to Broadmoor Technical Center’s organic, urban farm

Funds will be used to prepare the urban farm for planting season and maintain it throughout the summer and fall

LEAWOOD, Kan. (April 9, 2015) – Bristol Seafood Grill is kicking off the second year of its partnership with Broadmoor Technical Center in Overland Park, Kansas with a $3,000 Earth Month gift. Broadmoor is a nationally-recognized culinary arts education program managed by the Shawnee Mission School District. The funds will be used to prepare the Center’s urban farm for the spring planting season, as well as aid in maintenance of the land through the summer and fall.

Throughout the spring, summer and fall, Bristol supports the Center by purchasing surplus produce and herbs to incorporate into fresh menu selections at its downtown Kansas City location. Last year alone, Bristol’s downtown Kansas City location received 3,000 pounds of produce and herbs from Broadmoor, roughly one-third of what was planted by its students. Once the surplus is received, Bristol Executive Chef Travis Napier uses the product to create custom dishes to add to Bristol’s daily menu at its downtown location.

In celebration of its renewed partnership, Bristol would like to invite media to its Earth Month celebration on Thursday, April 16, at the Broadmoor Urban Farm in Overland Park. The event will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. All details are outlined immediately below.
