April 3, 2014 (Jay, VT)- Jay Peak has been awarded the Governor's SMART Award for Creative Marketing in Tourism. The honor was bestowed to the resort during the 31st Annual Vermont Travel Industry Conference being held at the Equinox Resort in Manchester, VT from April 2-3. Deputy Commissioner for Tourism and Marketing Steve Cook presented the award.
“The Jay Peak team is one of the most influential marketing teams in Vermont. Their willingness to be bold and take calculated risks has resulted in some of the most creative hospitality marketing that I have ever seen,” said Cook.
The SMART Award for Creative Marketing using Social Media in Arts, Recreation, and Tourism showcases a tourism-related business, region, association, special event, or travel journalist which has leveraged the Vermont Brand through creative, innovative and customer focused marketing. Jay Peak received the prestigious accolade for its Momentus campaign.
The second season of the Momentus campaign features the tag “Relive New Moments” and is anchored by an animated commercial featuring the voice of 40-year old woman’s inner child questioning the course of life her adult self has chosen. Jay Peak used various versions of the commercial in radio, print, TV, and online ads.
“It’s both rewarding and humbling to see your team brought into the spotlight, especially by our peers in the Vermont travel industry,” said Steve Wright, Jay Peak's Chief Marketing Officer.
Wright has been at the helm of Jay Peak’s Marketing department since 2004 and has been the creative force behind the resort’s marketing initiatives. Under his direction, Jay Peak embarked on a series of creative campaigns deemed successful not only for the 220% growth in revenue attributed to them, but for the buzz they caused. During his tenure, Jay Peak won a total of 11 awards for its marketing campaigns.
