Irvine Barclay Theatre Board of Directors announces the election of a new Chair

[IRVINE, CA] Irvine Barclay Theatre’s Board of Directors met on December 16, 2015 for its annual meeting to elect officers. At the meeting Ken Rohl was elected as the Chairman of the Board for a term of two years. Mr Rohl replaces Robert Farnsworth whose elected term as Chairman ends on December 31st.

Longtime Barclay Board member Mike Kerr, welcomed Mr. Rohl back to the Board. “Ken Rohl has made a deep commitment to Irvine Barclay Theatre over many years and as the Barclay moves into a new phase we look forward to his leadership on the Board.”

In accepting the Chairmanship, Mr. Rohl commented, “I am so glad to be back at the Barclay. I have a great respect for the role that Irvine Barclay Theatre has played in the Orange County community. I want to thank Robert Farnsworth for the work he did and his steady hand during his chairmanship. As we look to the future, the Board wants to strengthen the Barclay’s ties with the community and expand its role as a leader in the arts community.”

The IBT Board of Directors also extended Jerry Mandel's contract as Interim President until July 2016 while the theatre searches for a permanent president. Mandel, the retired president of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and Vice Chancellor Emeritus at UCI  is not a candidate for the role and is helping the Barclay out until the search process is finished.  

 Mandel said " The Barclay is moving forward. The staff is busy planning the 2016 season, working on renovation plans, and focusing on the future. I am assisting the presidential search and am confident we will have a good person in place this summer.”

Ken Rohl’s career spans 20 years in Corporate America with an additional 30 years heading his own company ROHL LLC, a family business in which he shares the management with his three sons. ROHL LLC, a manufacturer of luxury kitchen and bath faucets and fixtures, continues to build upon the vision of providing authentic luxury for kitchen and bath.

Throughout his career, Ken has held numerous positions in industry associations and was honored in 2004 as the Decorative Plumbing and Hardware Association (DPHA) Manufacturing Professional of the Year. In 2008 he was inducted into the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Hall of Fame. In 2006 he received the Orange County Business Journal Family Owned Business Award.

Additionally, Ken devotes time to the University of California, Irvine in several capacities.

Irvine Barclay Theatre is an independent nonprofit organization established as an innovative public/private partnership with the vision of creating a unique performing arts venue.  The private sector, the City of Irvine, and the University of California, Irvine, combined funding and land to achieve a mutual goal.
