iWise Consulting Partners with Career and Technical Education Summer Scholars

iWise Consulting, an information technology consulting firm specializing in consulting, managed IT services, cloud computing and more, announced that it has partnered with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Scholars program.

The Summer Scholars program allows partners to give students from New York City public high schools a chance to gain valuable experience as summer interns. Students learn skills such as technology, media, graphics and advertising that will be beneficial to them throughout their college years and beyond. iWise has selected two participants through the program.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with such a wonderful program, and are thrilled to have young, enthusiastic minds joining us at iWise Consulting this summer,” said Betty Whang, Business Development Director at iWise Consulting. “We believe that our participants will get an outstanding practical education in technology this summer that will give them a solid base to build on in their ongoing education.”

The Summer Scholars program is run by the New York City Department of Education and is sponsored by Bank of America. All Summer Scholars are public high school students (Juniors and Seniors), and the program lasts through the months of July and August. The students are paid by the program, and may be eligible for a cash bonus based on their attendance record at their internship, classes and other program activities. Application for the program is very competitive, so students who are placed in the Summer Scholars program are those who have demonstrated a high degree of reliability and scholarship.

iWise’s Summer Scholars began interning with the company on July 7th and will continue the program until August 15th, a period of six weeks. They work five hours per day Monday through Wednesday, and have classes on Thursdays and Fridays.

“The Summer Scholars program is extremely beneficial for students and businesses alike,” said Whang. “The students receive an invaluable experience in a real work atmosphere, and the companies get a chance to mentor some of the brightest young minds in New York’s schools.”
