Lander, WY – The Fremont Symphony Orchestra has announced its new name for the annual fundraiser concert on Saturday, January 11.
Formerly known as the Fremont County Orchestra for its first 26 seasons, the orchestra board approved the name change during a late 2013 meeting after the orchestra’s successful fall concert in November to open its 27th season.
Fremont Symphony Orchestra members and supporters will present a musical celebration of solos and ensembles to benefit the orchestra.
The 3 p.m. concert will be at the Fremont County Library Lander Carnegie Room, 200 Amoretti St.
The concert will feature ensemble instrumental music from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Musicians will perform selections for strings and wind instruments by Telemann, Vivaldi, Bruch, Barber and others.
Organizers said they would provide hors d’oeuvres during a post-performance reception.
Although the event is free, orchestra members will solicit donations to help fund orchestra expenses, such as music and other associated costs.
The Fremont Symphony Orchestra’s 27th season also features a March 22nd Spring Concert at the Lander Valley High School Auditorium.
