LAS VEGAS – South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa plays home to the rodeo world in true Vegas Cowboy Central fashion during National Finals Rodeo (NFR), Las Vegas’ largest rodeo event of the year, with a full lineup of live entertainment, Western art and gift shows, NFR viewing parties, buckle presentations for NFR winners, rodeo events and more Monday, Dec. 1 – Sunday, Dec. 14.
For two weeks straight, South Point Hotel will continue to define the cowboy experience with property-wide rodeo activities in celebration of 30 years of NFR history in Las Vegas. To kick start “Vegas Cowboy Central” festivities, South Point Hotel will host the 6th Annual Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Hall of Fame Gold Buckle Gala in the Grand Ballroom on Monday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. The following day, rodeo fans will mingle with the top rodeo stars during the official PRCA NFR Welcome Reception in the Grand Ballroom from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition, all PRCA members and NFR competitors will be honored at the PRCA Awards Banquet in the Grand Ballroom Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
Coinciding with the NFR, the IX World Series of Team Roping (WSTR) Finals, the third richest horse event in the world, returns to the South Point Hotel Sunday, Dec. 7 – Sunday, Dec. 14. Throughout the finals, more than 3,000 roping contestants will attend the event as the world’s best ropers compete for a share of the $9 million prize pool.
Throughout NFR, South Point will offer rodeo enthusiasts an endless lineup of daily rodeo events to highlight the cowboy experience including:
Montana Silversmiths Go-Round Buckle Awards – Dec. 4 – 12
Flint Rasmussen and Randy Corley will host the nightly Montana Silversmiths Go-Round Buckle Awards for that evening’s NFR event winners in South Point Hotel’s Showroom Dec. 4 – 12 at 11 p.m. Guests will get to see the rodeo stars presented with prized buckles, a symbol of each participants triumph in the arena. This event is free and open to the public.
National Finals Rodeo Live Broadcasts – Dec. 4 – 13
Every night, the South Point Showroom and Grandview Lounge will host live broadcasts during NFR Dec. 4 – 13 at 6:30 p.m. Doors to the viewing parties will open at 5:30 p.m., offering guests a front row seat to the action. All guests must be 21 or older with a valid form of ID. The broadcasts are free and open to the public.
RAM Rodeo Tailgate Viewing Party – Dec. 4 – 13
Throughout NFR, South Point will host the official RAM Rodeo Tailgate Party in the Grand Ballroom Dec. 4 – 13 at 6 p.m. Guests will display the “true spirit of the American West” and watch the live feed of each NFR performance while enjoying light snacks and refreshments. This event is free and open to the public.
South Point Western Gift Show – Dec. 4 – 14
With more than 100 vendors, guests have the opportunity to “Cowboy Up” and purchase all items related to the Western lifestyle during the South Point Western Gift Show Dec. 4 – 14. Gifts include shirts, jeans, cowboy hats, boots, belts and buckles. In addition, tack saddles, Western ranch style furniture, furs and a lot of bling will be showcased throughout the event. South Point’s Western Gift show will span more than 65,000 square feet across the South Point Arena Concourse and Exhibit Hall, offering guests a vast array of gift ideas and merchandise. This event is free and open to the public.
Benny Binion Bucking Horse and Bull Sale – Dec. 4 and 6
This two-day sale features two- and three-year-old colts and yearlings as well as two-year-old bulls on Dec. 4 and 6. This year’s event will feature the top permit-holders from the 2014 season in all six events. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Tickets are available and start at $12.
World Bronc Futurity Finale – Friday, Dec. 5
The World Bronc Futurity Finale, an international event, will feature the next generation of world champion bucking horses along with many of the top 50 Saddle Bronc riders in the world on Friday, Dec. 5. Tickets are available and start at $18.
The Art of the American Cowboy Fine Art Show & Sale – Dec. 7 – 14
Guests will experience an authentic Western art show, have the chance to view distinguished Western artists work and purchase limited edition pieces during the Art of the American Cowboy Fine Art Show & Sale Dec. 7 – 14. This event is free and open to the public.
South Point Hotel will host some of country music’s finest stars on the Showroom stage nightly at 9 to 11 p.m. Artists include Susie Dobbs from Dec. 2 – 4; Curtis Grimes from Dec. 5 – 7; Cody Johnson from Dec. 8 – 10; and Aaron Watson from Dec. 11 – 13. Throughout NFR, the Grandview Lounge will also feature nightly country entertainment from 9 to 11 p.m. All performances are free and open to the public.
Adding to the cowboy experience, South Point restaurants will feature specialty dishes in honor of NFR. To accommodate the popularity of steak during the rodeo season, Don Vito’s Italian will be transformed into a steakhouse, offering Silverado Steakhouse’s menu.
In addition, South Point’s Costa del Sur Spa and Salon will tame even the wildest cowboys during the NFR with cowboy-inspired spa treatments. Guests will have the option to enjoy a 50-Minute Texas Cowboy Body Treatment ($95); a 50-Minute Cowboy Up Facial ($135); a 50-Minute Texas Cowboy Sunrise Relaxation Massage ($115); or a Bourbon Bubbler Manicure and Pedicure ($110).
