All local law enforcement groups in Washoe County have unanimously endorsed Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek for Sheriff marking only the second time in recent campaign history a candidate for Washoe County Sheriff has earned unanimous backing of local law enforcement.
The Peace Officers Research Association of Nevada (PORAN), which represents 36 Nevada law enforcement organizations and more than 1,500 law enforcement officers and members, officially announced its endorsement of Tim Kuzanek for Sheriff last week. Additionally, other law enforcement organizations have pledged support including the Washoe County Sheriff’s Supervisory Deputies Association (WCSSDA), Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies Association (WCSDA), Reno Police Protective Association (RPPA), and Reno Police Supervisors and Administrative Employees (RPSAE).
“I am humbled to receive support from the men and women who put their lives on the line for our community day in and day out,” said Kuzanek. “It is a great honor to receive their endorsement and I will do everything to make sure I fulfill their expectations.”
“Tim is the only candidate who has the knowledge and experience to lead the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office,” said WCSSDA Vice President Bill Ames. “His ideas have led to innovations in policing that have netted tangible results. We look forward to working with him as our next Sheriff.”
“As demonstrated by his personal and professional dedication to the citizens of Washoe County, the Sheriff’s Office, as well as the state of Nevada, we believe Tim to be the most qualified candidate to take on the numerous issues the Sheriff’s Office will be facing in the future,” said Tim Ross, WCSDA President.
The clean sweep of endorsements from the local law enforcement community adds to the list of those who have announced support for Kuzanek. The growing list of local citizens, organizations, public safety officers and elected officials includes Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley, City of Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, City of Sparks Mayor Geno Martini, Washoe County District Attorney Dick Gammick, Washoe County Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Hicks, and former Washoe County Sheriffs Dennis Balaam and Richard Kirkland.
