Cool Events at The Wild West Winter Carnival All Month Long in Riverton, WY.

Riverton, WY – The Wild West Winter Carnival began in 1986 and was designed for residents to see how to enjoy fun events in Wyoming’s Wind River Basin during the winter months. Locals know that January and February means a host of fun activites for the whole family including a fishing derby, ice sculpting and more! Admission costs vary. Wild West Winter Carnival Schedule of Events:

A coloring contest for students in Grades kindergarten through 5th, from January 1st to January 24th. Each year a new themed picture is distributed through the schools, and prizes are awarded within age groups for best coloring.

A Treasure Hunt is held in Fremont County from January 20TH to February 7TH. Members of the community, can follow the clues in the Riverton Ranger to locate the Medallion, a paper weight sized medal that says Winter Carnival.  If you find the Medallion, and you have a Wild West Winter Carnival button, you can win $500.  

Wild West Winter Carnival Ice Fishing Derby January 23-25 See the biggest little city on ice at the popular held at Boysen Reservoir from January 23RD, 24TH  25TH .  Different species of local fish create multiple classes for biggest/longest catch.   Prizes are awarded at 2:00 p.m. at the B&K Shoreline on Jan 25TH   

A Poker Run January 24th will be held on the west side of Boysen Reservoir on Jan 24TH from 10am to 2pm.  This allows for participants to view the area and get a poker hand on the way. There will be different places around the lake to get your cards so warm up your 4-wheeler, snowmobile or whatever transportation you want.

CATS WILD WEST KID’S CARNIVAL JANUARY 24TH   10 AM – 2:00PM 120 S 3RD  STREET Bring the family to the Children's Art, Technology and Science Center  to enjoy carnival games and activities.  Cost is $2 for CATS members and $5 for non-members.  Adults with a child and kids under 2 are free.  Wear your 2015 WWWC button to receive a free gift and be entered into a Snugglin' Snowman Raffle Basket.  Unattended children will not be permitted.

ICE SCULPTING Saturday January 31st  activities beginning with the Ice Sculpting on Main Street starting at 9 a.m. – 12 NOON   Artists from around the region compete for trophies in the Beginner, Intermediate and Professional class.  The sculptures adorn Main Street until they melt.  People of all ages are encouraged to participate in this event. 

Wild West Winter Carnival 2015 Coronation is held at Riverton Library January 30 at 7 p.m.  The previous King & Queen pass on the Belt Buckle, Crown & Sash to the new King & Queen.  A Junior King & Queen may also be crowned, with associated scholarship prizes awarded.  WWWC 2015 Color Contest Awards will be presented

Library Lantern Release Community Room Project Fundraisier on January 30th  - Light  up the night sky –Riverton Branch Library on Friday.  Sky Lanterns take flight! On the Library lawn at 7:30 PM purchase a sky lantern for $10 then join us all proceeds go towards the Community Room Project

Tethered Balloon Rides are available at Riverton City Park on  JANUARY 31ST starting at 10 a.m.  There is no fee, the local Hot Air Balloon group provides the fun. 
 
Hole in One Golf is held at Riverton City Park on JANUARY 31ST at 11 a.m.  For a fee, you can try to get a hole-in-one on a 100 yard hole. Closest to the pin wins a cash prize

A Kids Coin Grab is held at Riverton City Park on JANUARY 31ST at 1 p.m.  The current King & Queen hide coins in shredded paper, and allow kids to keep the coins they find.  In order to promote a fair contest, the children are separated into age groups and given a set time to look.

Another event will be held this year for making snowmen in the city park. 
 
Snowman Stampede 5k Run & Walk, 400 meter Kids Dash  BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF NORTHWEST WYOMING Saturday February 7th 10 AM Riverton High School Track    registration 9 AM  http://igfn.us/vf/snowman Visit Facebook page, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wyoming.  All proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters

The Wyoming Star Quilters will have quilts on display on and before Feb. 7TH & 8TH @ Jerry’s Flowers & Things.    Wyoming Star Quilters Quilt fest will be at Riverton Armory on Feb 7thth from 12 am to 7 pm and Feb 8th   from 11 am to 3 pm. The Quilters will also hold a silent auction at the Crab Crack and announce the winners at the Rotary Crab Crack February 7th… you can bid & view at the Coronation also will be displayed at Jerry’s Flowers & Things

The Riverton Rotary Crab Crack is held at St Margaret’s on Feb 7th, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.  All You Can Eat crab is cooked by the Riverton Rotary club, and served en masse to the attendants.  Tickets are $35 each prior to the event, and $45 at the door.  Get tickets at Jerry’s Flowers & Things, Fellow Rotarians

The Riverton Artist’s Guild presents the annual Quick Draw will be held at the Riverton Elks Club on February 6th starting at 6pm - 8p.m.  Artists complete a project within an hour while the public mills around behind them, and the results are auctioned off later that evening. 
  

The Wild West Winter Carnival Gala will be held at BAR 10 on February 7th starting at 7:30. .  We invite our sponsors and the public to enjoy delectable hors d’ouvres and music. Public will need to have buttons, which can be purchased for $5 each at the door, from WWWC member, Riverton Ranger or at Wind River Casino. Sponsors must have ticket.


RC Car Races will be held at the Wind River Casino on February 7th & 8th from 10 am to 3 pm.  Racers from 3 states will compete for prizes and trophies with 1/28th scale race cars. Mini-Z remote controlled car races will be happening throughout the day.
