Atlanta, GA – September 21, 2015 – Joonie & Jake's is putting a spin on traditional kids’ craft projects with its fall launch of “Craftivities” – trade-focused workshops for kids led by Atlanta’s independent makers.

Starting Saturday, September 26, 2015, children ages six and up are invited to take part in classes designed to help them discover personal interests and express themselves artistically. By forgoing traditional arts & crafts for innovative, artisan-led projects, Craftivities cater to children’s personal development and provide a sense of passion and purpose.

Craftivity attendees can look forward to classes focusing on sustainable practices such as creating teacup planters and making organic bath & body scrubs as well as hands on creative classes such as face painting and cooking.

In addition to partnering with local makers, Joonie & Jake’s has secured a partnership with Atlanta-based organic catering service Lovable Foods to provide healthy snacks for workshops attendees.

By steering clear of the norm for kids art education, Joonie & Jake’s founder Janelle Perrilliat aims to give kids ample opportunities to discover themselves through art.

“I got the idea for Craftivities once my son got to a certain age and didn't find arts and crafts events fun anymore,” Perrilliat says. "I hope to gage kids' interests with fun, non-traditional arts and crafts workshops and give them an outlet to discover new interests."

Joonie & Jake’s first Craftivitiy, Floral Arranging, will take place Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 12-2PM at Lovable Foods. The workshop is for kids ages 6 and up and will allow kids to create works of art using flowers.
