Actress REBECCA KLINGLER Delivers Tragically Comedic Tales of a Hollywood Hopeful in Web Series ‘THE CALAMITIES OF JANE’

LOS ANGELES (June 1, 2016) – Actress/Creator REBECCA KLINGLER premieres all-new episodes of her tragically comedic web series, THE CALAMITIES OF JANE, which chronicles the tales of an aging Hollywood hopeful, beginning on June 8th.

Loosely based on her own life, THE CALAMITIES OF JANE follows Jane Singer (Klingler) as she fights an uphill battle in tinsel town. Single, broke and entering her 50’s, Jane’s Midwestern propensity for being nice has not served her well in the land of sharks. From disappointing suiters to dismissing gatekeepers, Jane navigates the rough waters of Hollywood. Along the way, she confronts daily obstacles, including ageism and poor choices, until finally her perseverance and heart begin to pay off in an unexpected ways.

To round out the cast of her comic but poignant series, Klingler brought in veteran actors Ron Glass (Barney Miller, Firefly) and Kyle T. Heffner (Flashdance, When Harry Met Sally); and rising stars Preston Jones (YouTube original Sing It!) and Rainy Kerwin (writer/director/star of The Wedding Invitation winner Best Comedy Manhattan Film Festival).

Klingler first introduced audiences to Jane in April, releasing the first 3 episodes of the full 11-episode season. She originally created the series out of her frustration with the lack of roles available for women in her age category. Now, she’s excited to deliver even more (mis)adventures in the upcoming 8 episodes, which differ slightly in style. Klingler explains, “With the help of my Editor Julie Mader, editing became a more obvious part of our concept. My love for cartoons and old TV sitcoms is apparent, but there are also some real moments of philosophical questioning of what it means to be an artist. We all know it’s not an easy life, but for women especially, the fear of poverty and loneliness deepen with age. And yet, it's a comedy! And from the audible reactions from our screening, a pretty effective one.”

Klingler is recognized for her work in some of the most prominent films ever created, including Titanic, LA Confidential and The Green Mile. Her credits also include television appearances on Hot in Cleveland, True Blood, Parks and Recreation, Shameless, and Weeds among many others. Theater audiences will remember Klinger for her leading role opposite Jack Klugman in the touring company of the acclaimed, “On Golden Pond” directed by Breaking Bad’s John DeLancie. Prior to this, she spent six years with the Tony Award-winning musical theatre company, The San Francisco Mime Troupe, where she starred in the Obi Award-winning production of "Seeing Double."

Klinger is currently in-development on Season Two of THE CALAMITIES OF JANE, set in her real-life hometown of North Manchester, Indiana.
