MIAMI GARDENS, FL., Feb. 16, 2014 — Tucked away on NW 25th Ave and 178th Street is a church that has seen its fair share of adversity. The church is still seeing adversity today: swings in membership, overwhelming debt, litigation, and a faithful congregation that keeps on giving and believing. The women of Mount Hermon firmly anchor this congregation and June 13th through 14th, 2014 they will be center stage, finding strength in solidarity and looking to take their strength to the community that so badly needs it.
It is no secret that Miami Gardens has seen its share of violence in recent years. That violence often overshadows the work that is being done there. The women of Mount Hermon are seeking to spearhead change that takes the community in a positive direction. The women’s conference serves as an opportunity to empower women to use their voices to set that change in motion.
Mount Hermon’s F.L.A.M.E. ministry, which stands for Faithful Ladies Anointed to Minister and Empower, is using this year’s conference to unleash the power of God’s promise. This year the conference uplifts Acts 1:8a which reads “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” With this scripture attached to the message, the conference will focus on teaching women how to connect to the Holy Spirit and let it guide them. Every invited guest and speaker will tailor their lessons around this central theme.
The conference will commence with a prayer breakfast on Saturday, June 13, 2014. This breakfast will bring the women together for fellowship and introductions. Then the morning workshops will begin. Following the morning sessions, there will be a large buffet lunch for all participants. Afternoon sessions commence after lunch until 4pm. Finally, the conference closes with a worship service at 10am Sunday, June 14, 2014.
As is always the case, Mount Hermon is preparing its women to be a beacon in the community that wins souls for Christ. This women’s conference serves a greater purpose than just edifying women. It serves a catalyst to position those women to meet the challenges they face in the community. The conference seeks to spread the loving message of God. As Lady Tamira Bouie, Pastor’s wife, F.L.A.M.E. ministry leader, and conference organizer, states, “We love you and there’s nothing you can do about it”. The hope is that love will conquer the community and cause a shift in the atmosphere.
