Latina Actress ANA MERCEDES Steps Into Chaos on TNT’s “MAJOR CRIMES”


LOS ANGELES (December 29, 2014) – Latina character actress ANA MERCEDES gets caught up in some criminal chaos on an all-new episode of the hit TNT crime-drama, MAJOR CRIMES, set to air on January 5th.

In the episode titled “Internal Affairs,” Mercedes finds herself in an unpredictable criminal situation when she appears as the Mother to Detective Julio Sanchez (Raymond Cruz). The show, currently in its third season, follows detectives in the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes Division under the leadership of Capt. Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell).

Mercedes was excited at the opportunity to work with such a talented group, adding “It always raises the level of my work to be in the company of a solid and established cast…and they don’t come any better than this group.”

Also coming in 2015, Mercedes just landed a role in the highly-anticipated Season Two of HBO’s mega-hit, TRUE DETECTIVE.

Recently, Mercedes portrayed as Maya Resik in a recurring role on the CW’s popular series, ARROW; and she also appeared in an episode of the CBS hit show, NCIS: LA. Her recurring roles include Showtime’s comedy series RUDE AWAKENING, NBC’s mega-hit THE WEST WING, and the FOX drama MELROSE PLACE and three years as Connie on the daytime soap THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. Her television credits also include appearances on NCIS, DEXTER, MEDIUM, COLD CASE, CSI: MIAMI, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIAM and many more.

On the big screen, fans will remember Mercedes for her role alongside Octavia Spencer and John Goodman in Mike Nichols’ film, WHAT PLANET ARE YOU FROM?; and her appearance in the Judd Apatow laugher, KNOCKED UP. In 2005, her talent took her to Sundance with UN DIA EN LA VIDA, which was awarded the ‘IFCT World Tour Award’ and ‘Best Dramatic Short’.

In addition to her on-screen work, this Costa Rican native is also proud to participate in charitable causes whenever possible. For several years, Mercedes was the Female Host of the simultaneous broadcasting for the United Cerebral Palsy Star-a-thon helping to raise thousands of dollars for the cause. In 1997, she was awarded the first “Centro America Unida: Premio a la Excelencia” and the City of Los Angeles also recognized her contributions to the community with the “Los Angeles Outstanding Enhancement Award”.
