Casper College has hired Ryan Davis as the school’s new assistant women’s basketball coach. Davis, who replaced Sarah McNamee, joined Head Coach Dwight Gunnare On July 1, 2016.
“I am extremely excited that Ryan is our new women's basketball assistant coach. Even though he is early in his coaching career he will be bringing a wealth of coaching experience to our program,” says Gunnare.
While a student at the University of Kansas, Davis was the men’s basketball manager from 2007-2010. Upon graduation, Davis was hired as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Sheridan College. “I spent one year next to the Big Horn Mountains and there my love for this part of the country was discovered. With the help and guidance of my head coach I decided to pursue a master's degree in kinesiology at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas, where I was hired as an assistant men's basketball coach,” says Davis.
After two years Davis headed to Kansas City where he was the assistant boys’ basketball coach at St. James Academy. “One year later I was given an opportunity to move over to the women's basketball side and was offered the assistant coaching position back at Sheridan College. The success we had at Sheridan during the 2014-15 season spurred my career on to Division II Black Hills State University where I was, until my hire at Casper College, the women’s assistant coach,” Davis says.
“Ryan has been involved with basketball programs at the NCAA Division I and Division II level as well as the NJCAA. His strengths include recruitment and individual skill development. I am very confident that he will be a great addition to our basketball program, campus, and the community of Casper,” Gunnare says.
