Upstate NY and CT Applebee’s Restaurants Salute Servicemen and Women during National Military Appreciation Month

BUFFALO, N.Y. – T.L. Cannon Companies, the franchisee for 59 Applebee’s restaurants in upstate New York and Connecticut, will continue its ongoing commitment to veterans and active duty military during the month of May for “National Military Appreciation Month.”

Starting Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 31, servicemen and women who dine at participating Applebee’s restaurants will receive a 10 percent discount on all meals, excluding tax, gratuity, gift cards and other discounts. Applebee’s will also donate a portion of proceeds from Pepsi soft drink and Leinenkugel Summer Shandy beer sales to The Mission Continues, a national organization that encourages veterans to serve and inspire in their local communities.

Applebee’s patrons and military personnel can participate in the Military Appreciation Month offerings throughout the month of May at the following Applebee’s restaurant locations, Upstate New York: Amherst, Buffalo, Blasdell, Cheektowaga, Lancaster, Dunkirk, Jamestown, Lockport, Niagara Falls, Olean, West Seneca, Williamsville, Greece, Irondequoit, Penfield, Gates, Batavia, Pittsford, Canandaigua, Henrietta, Geneseo, Perinton, Elmira, Binghamton, Vestal, Ithaca, Cortland, Painted Posted, Hornell, Johnstown, Rome, New Hartford, Oneonta, Herkimer, Utica, DeWitt, North Syracuse, Clay, Watertown, Auburn, Camillus, Newburgh, Woodbury, Poughkeepsie, Middleton, Brewster, Kingston, Queensbury, Greenbush, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Glenmont, Latham and Hudson. Connecticut: Groton, Mansfield, Orange, Plainville and Torrington.

Proof of service is required to receive the 10 percent discount. Acceptable identification includes: U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

Since 2009, Applebee’s locations nationally have served 4 million free meals to veterans and active duty military members on Veteran’s Day. Applebee’s also began recognizing U.S. veterans and active duty military servicemembers in 2011 with the launch of its national “Thank You Movement,” a program that encourages people to show their appreciation for members of our Armed Forces on Veterans Day. Since launching the program, Applebee’s has received more than 4.5 million personal “thank you” messages through the “Thank You Movement” website.
