BOULDER, Colo. (June 30, 2015) – Skiing Magazine, the world's leading publication for committed skiers, and a brand of Active Interest Media's Outdoor Group, is pleased to announce that Leslie Hittmeier is the new editor of the publication's online platforms.
"Leslie is, first and foremost, a serious skier. Her passion for the sport gives her the insight to provide our readers with the content they crave," says Kimberly Beekman, editor of Skiing. "Her writing, interviewing, shooting and social media instincts are spot-on. With Leslie at the helm, readers are going to see dramatic storytelling and imagery come to life on our online platforms."
A Montana native with a journalism degree from the University of Montana, Hittmeier has created multi-media content for Climbing Magazine (a sister publication to Skiing) and Teton Gravity Research, among others. She's both a talented writer and photographer, and brings extensive ski knowledge from the Montana and Wyoming backcountry and beyond. "I lived in the Revelstoke parking lot in my Subaru for two weeks and got kicked out of every coffee shop in town for loitering," she says, laughing. "But it was snowing 10 inches a night, so I couldn't leave." When she's not getting after it—she was recently named one of the eight women to follow on Instagram by TGR—she lives in Boulder with her border collie, Cash, whom she rescued last winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
As for her new role, she says, “I’m so excited to be a part of this team. Skiing has tremendous energy right now, and its digital content is poised to grow exponentially. I’m passionate about storytelling using all media formats and platforms. I want to bring the mountains home to our tribe everyday."
