Upcoming Exhibit at Handmade in America

Asheville, NC (December 28, 2014) - Emergence: Crafting an Identity, an exhibition featuring the work of Haywood Community College alumni, opens Monday, January 26, 2015 at Handmade in America, downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Running through Friday, April 17, 2015, an opening reception will be hosted by the artists on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 6-8pm, at Handmade in America which is located at the corner of Hilliard Avenue and Church Street in downtown Asheville.

Eight recent graduates of Haywood Community College will exhibit work in four media: Crystal Allen and Trish Salmon in clay, Deanna Lynch and Rebecca Porche in fiber, Linda Azar and Becky Burnette in jewelry, and Valerie Berlage and Brandon Skupski in wood. The title of the show speaks to each artist’s journey to “craft” their own identity as an emerging artist; transitioning from student to professional.
