Heart Month Message to Women: Career Longevity in Financial Industry Requires Heart Care

The Financial Women’s Association Provides Tips as Reminder to Protect Against #1 Killer

In recognition of Heart Month, the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) today released a free downloadable guide, Advancing Women by Advancing Their Health.

The American Heart Association points out that heart disease is the #1 killer not only of men, but women as well, with one out of every four deaths caused by heart disease.

In partnership with the American Heart Association, the FWA is underscoring the importance of taking care of one’s health in order to have a long career in the financial industry.

“The financial industry hasn’t been without its ups and downs,” said FWA Executive Director Jennifer Openshaw, noting that the role of senior corporate executive ranks as one of the 10 most stressful jobs.

“Stress, job changes and just the daily juggle can impact a woman’s health in so many ways — and her success on the job.  That’s why the FWA, as part of its effort to advance women in the financial industry, wants to bring attention to the importance of a healthy heart. Indeed, career longevity requires that we have physical longevity. "
