It’s Summer Somewhere…Just Not New England

BOSTON, MA – On Wednesday, March 4th, boloco, a family of 20 globally inspired burrito restaurants based in New England, is bringing back one of its classic promotions: “Friends with Benefits.” The promotion designates a burrito (the friend) and offers a special deal for guests, while also partnering with a charitable organization (the benefits).

To kick off its return, boloco is asking guests to forget about snowy New England and remember “It’s Summer Somewhere,” highlighting its Summer burrito with this month’s promotion. Through March, boloco guests who purchase a Summer burrito or bowl can add on a mini Mango Passion Smoothie for only $1. For every Summer sold, boloco will donate 10 cents to the Boston Harbor Island Alliance.

With the unprecedented amount of snow New England, and specifically Boston, has received, boloco thinks there is no better time to think “summer,” while also giving back in the process. For those unfamiliar with boloco’s menu, The Summer burrito features mango salsa, melted cheese, black beans, and boloco rice. Pair that with a mini Mango Passion Smoothie and a good cause and it is a serious cure for winter.

“This winter season has been rough, especially for our home base in Boston,” said Patrick Renna, CEO of boloco. “We wanted to bring a little summer fun to our guests, while giving back to a great cause. The Boston Harbor Island Alliance does great work for one of Boston’s ‘must visit’ destinations, and we’re thrilled to be able to partner with the organization again this year.”

The Boston Harbor Island Alliance’s mission is to promote the use, enjoyment, and awareness of the Boston Harbor Islands national park area by creating vibrant public spaces, facilities, and programming on the islands, raising and managing the public and private resources necessary to do so.

Guests have until the end of March to take part in the Friends With Benefits deal, but those looking to get the most summer-y experience should head to their local boloco on March 4th. Why? boloco’s cashiers will be wearing (read: rocking) sunglasses and Hawaiian leis… winter blues, be gone!
