Williamson County,TN– January 4, 2013 – In contrast to many other preschools inWilliamson County,TN,PB&JDay Schoolnow provides a more effective program to help children learn. Its programs and curricula provide an alternative to traditional methods of teaching and a more fun and exciting preschool experience. The day school’s programs are divided up into two different teaching methods – Rocket Reading for one-year-olds and a full curriculum for two-to-five year old children.
The one-year-old program focuses on weekly themes. A variety of activities are associated with each theme during free play, including painting, reading, and size matching. The early childhood education program uses play and exploration to address the state’s early learning development standards.
Two-to-five year age groups enjoy a Rocket Reading program that teaches letter and word recognition early on. The correlation between sounds and letters is taught first. Based on age, the curriculum includes specific lessons based on vocabulary, phonics, expressive language, receptive language, and more. Copies of the curriculum, for the entire year and as part of weekly/monthly notices, are distributed to parents.
Math basics are learned through the school’s TouchMath program, while classes also include fine arts, Spanish instruction, plus enrichment activities such as Social Butterflies, for manners and friendship; Music and Groovin’, for music/drama; and segments for math and motor skills. Summer camps are also available for children anywhere from one to 12 years old.
PB&JDay Schoolwas set up by Brooke Pate and Jennifer Walker. Both parents, they embarked on a mission to find out what children need to learn, which most preschools in the county did not provide. Next, they worked to create a business plan with a philosophy that directly addressed early childhood learning and education.
Complimenting a top notch program is a state-of-the-art facility with six classrooms, a fine arts and Spanish room, indoor playground, and webcams for parents to see what their children are doing. Quality of life is optimized through a bio-ionizing air filter system, geothermal heating and cooling, and comforting music and lighting in the hallways.
