The commencement of a range of exclusive weekend events at Saffire
Saffire Freycinet has launched a weekend to celebrate the best of Tasmania’s local whisky from 29 – 31 August 2014. ‘Whisky Business’ will offer three days of whisky tasting, relaxation and the opportunity to enjoy the company of some of Tasmania’s most prestigious distillers.
The first of what will be an annual event; this is the chance to combine a luxurious stay at Saffire with an experience of a lifetime. In true Saffire style, tastings will be perfectly complimented with a bespoke menu from Saffire’s chefs Hugh Whitehouse and Simon Pockran.
Guests will mingle with some of Australia’s most respected distillers, including Bill Lark from Lark Distillery, Patrick Maguire from Sullivans Cove Distillery and Jane Overeem from Overeem Distillery.
There will also be the option of a helicopter flight* to the Tasmanian highlands to visit the famed Lark Distillery’s peat bog. Here guests will be taken on a behind the scenes tour, showcasing the real secret to what makes Tasmanian whisky so special. Bill Lark will also run a tutorial back at Saffire to share more insights into Australian whisky – a must whether an amateur whisky fan or a master.
The final dinner will include a six-course degustation paired with matching whisky and wine. With a few surprises in store, it is sure to be a night to remember.
This is just one of Saffire’s experiences that encompasses meaningful moments, capturing the essence of Saffire and its close connection to Tasmania. Other meaningful moments include the luxurious pleasures of a day spa experience at Spa Saffire, or a unique dining experience of donning waders to eat fresh oysters in the waters of Freycinet Marine Oyster Farm.
Saffire Freycinet’s concept and design are like no other in the country, capturing the essence of the East Coast of Tasmania by connecting with its environment, to bring an authentic and enriching experience for its guests.
While Whisky Business is exclusively offered to Saffire past guests by personal invitation, dedicated whisky lovers can enquire about availability this year as there is a limited number of places still vacant.
