Jakprints expands with printing facility in Oceanside, Calif.

CLEVELAND–Jakprints Inc., a premier custom printing company based in Cleveland, has brought its high-end traditional screen printing capabilities and advanced digital garment printing technologies west. The company has opened a second facility in Oceanside, California, a city located in San Diego County on the state’s South Coast.

Even with its operations based in Northeast Ohio, Jakprints has produced high-quality, eco-friendly custom products for West Coast brands since it was founded in 1999. The decision to open a California facility was made in order to serve those customers more efficiently, Jakprints CEO Nick DeTomaso said.

“This has been a long-term goal for us. By having a location in Oceanside, we’re getting products into our customers’ hands more quickly,” DeTomaso said. “We’re able to shave two to three business days off our shipping transit time.”

With the expansion into a second facility, located in the business park at 3909 Oceanic Drive, Jakprints has added new positions to cover a full first-shift operation in Oceanside, DeTomaso said, adding that the company is now scaling into a second shift as well. Between the Cleveland and Oceanside locations, Jakprints facilities now cover 150,000 total square feet.

Establishing a physical presence in Oceanside and becoming more deeply integrated with the communities of Southern California will help West Coast clients put a face to the Jakprints brand, a vital part of the company’s ethos.

“We’re working face-to-face with creatives, makers and doers in the region,” DeTomaso said. “That has always been our growth strategy. Whether it’s networking or sponsoring local events, getting involved with the arts and culture community is how we build bridges and develop relationships.”

Jakprints’ environmentally conscious business practices have made the company a natural fit for California from the get-go, said Jakprints Co-Founder Dameon Guess.

“Our production and workflows established in Cleveland have been refined for a state with greater regulation,” Guess said. “For us, it’s about producing high-quality work while being the sustainable and green business that we know we can be. If we can do well in California, we are walking the walk and talking the talk.”

Production at the Oceanside facility will include screen printing services, as well as fulfillment for streetwear and fashion brands. Jakprints also produces merchandise for musical artists, bands and record labels, and with concert tours regularly starting in Sourthern California, a facility in the region made sense for the company, DeTomaso said.
