LGBT-Focused Mud Run Event Partners with Social App for Gay Community to Get Out & Get Dirty for NYC Gay Pride 2014
NEW YORK - (June 2, 2014) – Out-Fit Challenge, (http://www.out-fitchallenge.com/), the first ever LGBT Mud Run, announced today Jack’d gay social app, (http://www.jackd.mobi/), as an official event sponsor for 2014. Jack’d is the fastest growing gay app in the world with over five million users across the globe. Eighty percent of Jack’d users are 18-30 years old, making Jack’d a phenomenon among a diverse cross-section of young, active gay men. The app consistently ranks among the top four gay apps in both the iTunes and Google Play stores. It was recently acquired by Online Buddies, the largest company in the world connecting men seeking men. Out-Fit Challenge Mud Run will be kicking off its state-to-state run in New York this year, then hitting Boston, San Francisco and Reno.
Out-Fit Challenge will take place on June 21st, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with race waves leaving throughout the day beginning every 20 minutes. The sporting event features over 15 military-style obstacles that include various elements such as mud, water, and ice throughout the course including the “Cherry Picker,” “Is that Mud in Your Pants” and “Hello Sailor.” Finishing the course is a victory for every participant, celebrated with an after party hosted by local drag queens, DJs, muddy go-go boys, and lots of great food and drink. Out-Fit Challenge will run shuttle buses from New York City to Tuxedo Ridge throughout the day. Tickets to participate in the event are $55 per person with group discounts available. Spectator tickets are $10 per person. Registrants can sign up to participate at http://bit.ly/1iqlnkH .
“We want the boys and Jack’d has the boys!” states Tory Fitzgerald, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Out-Fit Challenge. “Jack’d is a natural sponsorship fit for Out-Fit Challenge Mud Run. We love that they are tapped into the gay community across the globe. People come from all over to experience NYC Gay Pride and we want Out-Fit Challenge Mud Run to be at the top of their list of exciting things to do.”
Out-Fit Challenge premiered with two very successful mud runs in Miami and New York in 2013. For 2014 they expanded their 5K cross-country trails to four cities chosen through a public online voting contest. Apart from putting on race events, the organization aims to aid national and local charities that are making a significant difference in the lives of LGBT individuals across the United States. For this year’s New York event the charity of choice is the Ali Forney Center which helps provide housing for homeless LGBT youth in the New York City metropolitan area. Other LGBT charities that the event has contributed to include Family Equality Council and Care Resource of Miami.
“We see a lot of parallels between the Jack’d community and the Out-Fit Challenge community,” begins Adam Segel, Chief Executive Officer of Jack’d. “Our users are young, they come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, and most important they aren’t afraid to get a little dirty for a good cause! The guys on Jack’d love to get a little physical so sponsoring Out-Fit Challenge was an obvious fit. What could possibly be sexier than saying you are either training for or just finished a 5K endurance run with mud and obstacles? I can’t think of a better way to have fun while meeting hot guys.”
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for all of Out-Fit Challenge’s 2014 events and range in cost from $2,000 to $40,000. Sponsorship rates vary depending on the number of events sponsored, the unique needs of the sponsor, and can include a variety of items and perks such as t-shirts, posters, flyers, branded booths, public acknowledgement during the event, or even celebrity team captains. Custom sponsorship packages can be made available to any brand looking for extra exposure within the LBGT community, such as sports drinks, gyms, bars, athletic apparel retailers, and other national and local brands.
