Saint Louis, MO—Concordia Publishing House (CPH) wants to know: What are you reading with your children? CPH is encouraging parents to share Our Faith from A to Z with their kids. The new book by Ruth Meyer is an excellent way to combine reading and Christ-centered learning.
“This book is the perfect resource in the home and in the classroom,” said Peggy Kuethe, CPH editor. “It helps familiarize elementary school children with terms and concepts they will hear in catechism instruction, in church, and in the home.”
The 32-page picture book, with illustrations by Dave Hill, introduces catechetical language and concepts in an accessible, inviting way. A poem weaves together 26 terms, explaining each one as it is associated with a letter of the alphabet, in an encyclopedic-type entry.
“While most ABC books are for very young children, this one uses a familiar model of teaching to explain terms and how they apply to the child’s life as a Christian,” Kuethe said. “This book is appropriate for use by children who are new to the church and are beginning catechism instruction. As a secondary benefit, the book is helpful for parents who are new to the faith, as it helps them learn terms and concepts, and their application.”
