Fish & Richardson Named Law360 “IP Practice Group of the Year”

Boston, MA, January 13, 2014 – Fish & Richardson has been named IP Practice Group of the Year” by Law360 for the size, complexity, and significance of its 2013 litigation wins.  Fish was singled out for “once again handling more patent litigation than any other law firm” – more than $8 billion in controversy – and securing “a slew of big-name victories.”  A profile of Fish’s “remarkable streak of success” was published on January 3, 2014 in Law360 (click to view).

According to Law360, “Attorneys from Fish won major victories for tech companies…as well as for major pharmaceutical and device companies like Allergan and Fresenius.”  The publication lauded the Fresenius case, which began 10 years ago, as a “landmark win” and “other big wins included an ITC investigation for Hewlett-Packard that resulted in a general exclusion order against the respondents, and the defeat of infringement allegations against dozens of major retailers, banks, and airlines from so-called Parallel Networks LLC.”

“More innovative companies turn to Fish to protect the value of their IP because we are able to put the best possible team on the field for them.  We have more lawyers with technical degrees and more true IP trial lawyers, who actually try cases, than any other law firm,” said Ann Cathcart Chaplin, Litigation Practice Group Leader at Fish & Richardson.

Fish was also named a Law360 “IP Practice Group of the Year” and “Life Sciences Practice Group of the Year” in 2012.  “When you do more patent litigation than anyone else, you see things others don't see,” added Cathcart Chaplin.  “You get experience with a broad array of complex legal issues in front of different courts and repeatedly in front of  juries, which allows you to understand how to most efficiently and effectively run the cases for your clients.”
