PITTSBURGH (September 9, 2015)—The National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, is proud to announce that William Almas, CEO and owner of B3 Solutions, is the 2015 Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year®.

“William Almas personifies how military service prepares veterans for success as entrepreneurs in the civilian world,” said NaVOBA President Chris Hale. “He developed a solid skill set in the military and leveraged that experience previously as an employee in corporate America and now as a vetrepreneur.”

The lessons learned during military service around teamwork, discipline, leadership and attention-to-detail arm today’s vetrepreneurs with the tools they’ll need to tackle the challenges of starting and growing a business. William “Bud” Almas very wisely built on those attributes and paired them with his experience in the Army contracting world to land acquisition and program management positions with a variety of international companies, including Tamsco, Honeywell, Eagle Group International, NCR Corporation and Lockheed Martin, before taking the vetrepreneurial leap.

“Johnson & Johnson extends sincere congratulations to Bud Almas and his success with B3 Solutions,” said Ruben Taborda, Vice President, Enterprise Customers Hispanic Employee Resource Group Co-leader at Johnson & Johnson. “We are proud to work with NaVOBA to celebrate the diversity of the veteran business community and the Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year® Awards.”

In 2003, Almas founded B3 Solutions – a Jacksonville, Fla.-based firm that works with companies and organizations including the federal government to provide program management, logistics and acquisition management solutions – and now he leads a team of more than 165 employees (35 percent of whom are veterans) in 11 states. Almas’s business accomplishments, coupled with his commitment to serving the veteran community, make NaVOBA proud to celebrate him as the 2015 Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year®.

“Winning this award is recognition of the love my parents gave and the sacrifices they made to provide me, and my siblings, with the opportunity to succeed,” Almas said.

NaVOBA and Johnson & Johnson will present Almas with his award at special ceremony as part of the 2015 U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Convention on September 19 in Houston, Texas. Joining Almas will be four other Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year® finalists including: Emil Nunez-Canvess, founder of Sword & Plough; Eli Valenzuela, CEO of First State Manufacturing; Frank Espinal, owner of ShipOnSite of Myrtle Beach; and Jessica Morel, co-founder of Tri-Freedom Real Estate.

Each veteran’s remarkable story is featured in the September issue of Vetrepreneur® magazine with a special feature celebrating the contributions of Hispanic-vetrepreneurs.
