Area Individuals and Businesses Raise Funds for School Supplies @SSFKids

It’s hard to believe that it is almost time for school to start. Unfortunately, more that 31% of Dane County students qualify as economically disadvantaged. School Supplies for Kids (SSFK) is a local non-profit charity that is dedicated to furnishing school supplies for these kids. This helps to close the achievement gap and promotes success not only in school but in life.

“Did you know just $25 is enough to equip one student with the basic supplies their education requires?”@SSFKids –David Vogel, Founder of School Supplies for Kids.

Thanks to the generous support from individuals, area businesses, foundations and organizations, School Supplies for Kids has been aiding Dane County for 23 years starting with a single neighborhood. Now, SSFK helps more than 140 public schools. The budget this year is $55,000 and SSFK is only halfway to its goal. These kids need your help.

All dollars raised are used for the purchase of school supplies, all other related expenses are donated such as mailings, allocating and sorting the school supplies, and the delivering them to schools. The supplies are given to the schools based on the percentage of economically disadvantaged students at each school compared to the total for the county.

SSFK purchases basic supplies such as crayons, pens, paper, pencils, notebooks, binders, glue sticks, etc. The list of supplies was developed in cooperation with local teachers. Please join in investing in the future by helping to support these kids, donate today.

Donations are welcome online and by check. They are tax deductible and used solely for the purchase of school supplies. Learn more at Like us on Facebook & Twitter. For media requests, please contact RoJeane Anderson at 608-663-8970 or email
