City officials, Cleveland personalities and thrill seekers rappel downtown hotel
At 1:30 p.m., Fri., July 1, a preview of Over the Edge for Hattie Larlham kicks-off in downtown Cleveland. Local celebrities, dignitaries and community leaders will rappel 22 stories down the Westin Cleveland Downtown to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event features a V.I.P. reception from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. serving beer from exclusive beverage sponsor, Market Garden Brewery.
Special guests scheduled to rappel at the July 1 kick-off include: Sara Shookman, anchor, WKYC Channel 3; Homa Bash, reporter, WEWS NewsChannel5; Rob Frost, chairman, Cuyahoga County Republican Party; Calvin Williams, chief, Cleveland Division of Police; Frank LaRose, Ohio Senator, District 27; Angelo Calvillo, chief, Cleveland Division of Fire; Keith Mrak, sous chef, Pura Vida; Martin Sweeney, Ohio Representative, District 14; Kevin Kelley, president, Cleveland City Council.
Over the Edge for Hattie Larlham is a unique, one-of-a-kind fundraiser. People register and host their own fundraising campaign to earn their spot on the roof. Each person who meets or exceeds a $1,500 fundraising goal rappels 22 stories down the Westin Cleveland Downtown. This is Hattie Larlham’s third year partnering with special events company, Over the Edge to host the event. The event has raised $225,000 during the last two years.
“This event is a great opportunity to bring awareness to our mission, while providing a new, different and exciting way for people to explore philanthropic opportunities in Cleveland,” said Wendy Voelker events manager at Hattie Larlham. “It’s already been a summer to remember for this city. This is another way to keep the fun going while supporting a great cause.”
The Main Event - Sat., July 2
On Sat., July 2, nearly 60 people who raised money for people with disabilities will experience the thrill of a lifetime. Special guests Sam McNulty, owner, Market Garden Brewery and Ciara Ahern, senior account executive, The Adcom Group, are scheduled to rappel at the main event.
