PERIOD DRAMA HITS THEATERS NATIONWIDE ON DECEMBER 12, 2014
Los Angeles, CA (December 3, 2014) – Actress DELAINA MITCHELL takes control of Josh Brolin in Paul Thomas Anderson’s period drama, INHERENT VICE, set to hit theaters nationwide on December 12th.
The first ever film adaption of a novel by Pulitzer Prize winning author Thomas Pynchon, “Inherent Vice” is set in Los Angeles at the turn of the 1970’s. The story trails drug-fueled detective Larry "Doc" Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) as he investigates the disappearance of an ex-girlfriend. Mitchell joins in the storyline as Mrs. Chastity Bjornsen, the tyrannical wife of ‘Bigfoot’ Bjornsen (Brolin).
Mitchell was excited by the opportunity to be part of the film, explaining “Working with Paul Thomas Anderson was literally a dream come true. Josh Brolin and Joaquin Phoenix are two of the greatest actors of this generation. It was exhilarating and an honor to work with them.”
This talented actress has been building a solid resume and reputation in the industry. Fans will also recognize Mitchell for her role as Rachel, assistant to David Aames (Tom Cruise) in Cameron Crowe’s VANILLA SKY. In addition, Mitchell has appeared on numerous television shows, including guest starring roles on THE MIDDLE, THE DEFENDERS, NO ORDINARY FAMILY, MY OWN WORST ENEMY, NYPD BLUE, E.R., STRONG MEDICINE and a recurring role on Comedy Central’s STRIPMALL among others.
Originally from Huntington Beach, CA, Mitchell’s interest in the performing arts began at an early age. She studied mime, acting, dance and was a competitive synchronized swimmer. Dancing to the beat of her own drum, as a young adult Mitchell performed across the country, juggling and dancing on stilts as a member of “Girls on Stilts”. Continuing to hone her craft, over the years Mitchell has lived, worked and studied in Los Angeles, New York and Sydney, Australia.
