Sheridan residents who use and enjoy the public pathway system gathered together on Sunday at Washington Park for a picnic. The event was hosted by Unplug, a joint project of the Sheridan Community Land Trust and Science Kids that aims to help kids spend more time outside. Organizers estimate that approximately 90 people attended.
A group of bicycles sat next to the picnic tables where people enjoyed free Jimmy Johns sandwiches and lemonade. Kids ran back and forth between the playground and the tables, laughing and enjoying the beautiful day. The meal was "landfill free", meaning that all of the packaging was recyclable or compostable.
