Latina Actress IRIS ALMARIO Joins ABC Family’s “SWITCHED AT BIRTH” and Lands on CBS’s “INTELLIGENCE”

LOS ANGELES – Actress IRIS ALMARIO will be kicking off the New Year in homes across America as she joins the ABC Family hit drama series, “SWITCHED AT BIRTH,” in a recurring role beginning on January 20, 2014. Almario also takes her talents over to CBS for a guest starring appearance on the highly-anticipated action-drama, “INTELLIGENCE,” scheduled to air on February 24th.

“Switched At Birth” tells the story of two families struggling to learn how to join together for the sake of their teenage girls who were accidentally switched at birth. Almario is introduced into the storyline during the upcoming all-new third season episode titled, “Your Body is a Battleground,” as someone from Regina’s (Constance Marie) past.

Later this February, Almario switches gears and kicks up the action with a guest starring role on the new drama series, “Intelligence,” starring Josh Halloway and Marg Helgenberger. The storyline revolves around Gabriel Vaughn (Halloway), a high-tech intelligence operative who has a microchip implanted in his brain that allows him to access key data and intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies. Almario gets caught up in the intrigue trying to stay alive in the action-packed episode, “Delta Force,” set to air on February 24th.

Almario is excited to be working on these very different shows, which offered her two unique acting experiences. “Working with Lea Thompson, who directed one of the ‘Switched at Birth’ episodes, and opposite Constance Marie on-screen, was about capturing a real-life problem. While ‘Intelligence,’ involved a lot of characters and was all about creating a high stakes, intense and suspenseful situation,” Almario explains.

Coming later this spring, Almario heads down south with an appearance on an upcoming episode of the CW’s fan-favorite drama, “Hart of Dixie.”

Almario was first drawn to performing through the art of dance, earning a degree from The Dalton School and a scholarship to Phil Black. This natural beauty of Colombian Puerto Rican descent, caught the public’s eye when she was named Queen of The National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City. She went on to be crowned Miss Latina USA and win a modeling contract with the prestigious Wilhelmina Modeling Agency.

It wasn’t long before Almario set her sights on acting and headed to Hollywood. She has built a solid resume with numerous television appearances, most notably “General Hospital,” “Sex and The City,” “King of Queens” and a recurring role on the daytime favorite “The Young and the Restless.” She’s also appeared in several feature films, including Bob Goldthwait's “God Bless America” and “Below the Beltway” with Tate Donovan, Sarah Clarke and Noah Wyle.

Iris Almario is represented by Rachel Rothman at Rothman/Andres Management and Sharon Carry at Carry Company.
