Houlihan’s is Owl’s Brew’s first multi-unit restaurant purchaser

Seasoned restaurant brand adds unique, micro-batched tea mixer to its bar program

LEAWOOD, Kan. (July 7, 2016) – With the recent upgrade of Houlihan’s summer cocktails menu comes a new partnership between the national, polished-casual restaurant brand and Owl’s Brew, the first tea crafted for cocktails. Houlihan’s is the first multi-unit restaurant to carry an Owl’s Brew product. Owl’s Brew is also sold at national retailers, including Whole Foods, Williams-Sonoma and West Elm.


Owl’s Brew offers five premium, all-natural mixers made from whole tea leaves, fruits and spices. Not only are these botanics free of artificial sugars, but they also add antioxidant benefits.


Eager to elevate the consumer’s bar experience, Houlihan’s tapped into the trend of tea-based cocktails, which led partnering with Owl’s Brew. “Owl’s Brew is a small-batch tea producer that uses high quality ingredients which made them a great fit for our brand,” said Jen Gulvik, Houlihan’s senior vice present of marketing and creative director.


Owl’s Brew Coco-Lada is the star ingredient in Houlihan’s summer tiki cocktail, the Blue Taboo. Sweet and spicy, the Owl’s Brew Coco-Lada is blended with black tea, coconut pieces, chai spices, pineapple juice and agave. The Blue Taboo complements these flavors seamlessly with Bacardi Pineapple Rum, blue curacao and club soda to round out the cocktail. The seasonal drink is featured at all 31 of Houlihan’s corporate-owned locations and select franchise locations, as well.

Yields 7 cocktails

  • 14 ounces of Owl’s Brew Coco-Lada
  • 10.5 ounces of Bacardi Pineapple Rum
  •  7 ounces of Blue Curacao
  • 7 ounces of soda water
  • Build all ingredients in a punch bowl or drink dispenser. Serve in a tiki glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange wedge, pineapple leaf, and cherry flag.
