Virginia Armour Antleope died Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Casper, Wyoming. She was 96 years old. Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Blue Sky Hall in Ethete.
Officiating will be conducted by Episcopal clergy. Evening services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the Blue Sky Hall. Following the evening services, Virginia will be moved to her home at 373 Ethete Road for an all-night wake. Burial will be at Armour Cemetery.
Virginia Armour (Wo-noo-yoo Hii-nei-tiit) was born November 7, 1919 in the Sand Draw area where her family was residing. She was born to Elmer and Betty (Friday) Armour. Her grandparents were Wesley Wolf Arrow & Laura Wolf and William Friday & Singing on Hill.
At the time of her passing, Virginia was the eldest living Arapaho woman. She enjoyed going to community events including powwows and family dinners. At home, she was known for her quilting and beading. She would cook for all her visitors who would come to her home.
Throughout her years she raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren.Virginia is survived by her daughters/nieces Gloria Antelope, Rose Marie (Patton) Brown, Shirley YellowHair, Winona Whiteplume, Mary Chase Alone, RoseAnn (Nathan) LongHorn; sons/nephews Bill (Rickina) Armour, Ronnie (JoEtta) Armour, Preston Armour, Julian Armour.Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Sons George Antelope, Bruce Armour, Floyd Armour; Daughters Dorothy Wheeler, Virginia Thunder; Brothers Martin Armour Sr., Vernon Armour Sr., Robert Armour Sr., Sisters Rosie Moss, Wyoma Moss, Emma Goggles, Bridget Trosper.
