Buffalo, NY- The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo will present RIOULT Dance NY on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 8:00pm in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, North Campus. There will be a special pre-performance talk at 7:15pm. The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank. Tickets for RIOULT Dance NY are $31.50, Students (any school) $13.50.

Founded in 1994, RIOULT Dance NY fast became an established name in modern dance with a reputation for presenting the sensual, articulate, and exquisitely musical works of Pascal Rioult, a former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company.

The company has grown tremendously over the last two decades since it all began in the New York City apartment of Pascal Rioult and Joyce Herring. To date, Pascal has created more than 40 dances, presented 20 New York Seasons and toured Europe and North America. His roots in American modern dance, paired with those of Joyce Herring, allowed the husband-and-wife team to continue the legacy of the art form in their own right over the next 20 years, and now beyond.

RIOULT Dance NY will be in residence April 6-11. As Western New York’s premier presenter of dance, the Center places great emphasis on developing dance audiences in our community and introducing professional dance to children who otherwise might not have the opportunity. Since 1997, the Center has conducted more than 16 professional dance outreach projects to provide arts education for more than 27,000 students at schools primarily in the City of Buffalo. Western New York public school students have been afforded the opportunity to experience a live professional dance performance in their schools, free of charge, by some of the world’s finest companies. In addition, UB dance majors benefit from master classes with members of these professional dance companies. The residency activities also include our partner hospitals in the Arts in Healthcare Initiative – Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.

This performance is made possible through a gift from The Bernice Poss Memorial Fund. Bernice L. Poss had a 23-year career with the University at Buffalo. After her tragic death in 1988, the Bernice Poss Award was established to honor her many contributions to the community. The children of Ms. Poss have chosen to honor her memory by funding an annual performance.
