Community Invited to Calvary’s Easter & Holy Week Activities

GOLDEN VALLEY, MINN. – Many people carry great hurts, regrets and emptiness, but the empty tomb of Jesus has the power to bring everyone into a new and eternal sense of hope! The public is invited to celebrate this promise of Easter through several special worship services taking place at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minn.

Easter services will be held on Sunday, April 5, at 6:30, 8, 9, 10 and 11 a.m.; a Spanish service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 6:30 a.m. service. A radio broadcast will air at 10 a.m. on AM980 KKMS.

Calvary youth will serve an Easter breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. in the church’s Gym. The breakfast will include eggs, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit and beverages, and will cost $7 for adults and $6 for children under 10. Proceeds will subsidize Calvary’s youth mission trips.

Worship services will also be held on:

  • Maundy Thursday, April 2, at 5:30 and 7 p.m. (AM980 KKMS radio broadcast at 7:30 p.m.). Maundy Thursday will feature Holy Communion and a live portrayal of Joshua. A dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. for $8 per person or $24 maximum per family.
  • Good Friday, April 3, at 5:30 and 7 p.m. (AM980 KKMS radio broadcast at 7:30 p.m.). A Spanish service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Holy Week at Calvary will also entail a free art exhibit, “Great Is God’s Faithfulness,” featuring more than 70 original works. Exhibit hours will be Palm Sunday, March 29, and Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; weekdays (March 30-April 3) from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Easter Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Friends and members of Calvary will display works of photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and calligraphy using such media as oil, acrylic, watercolor, ceramic, metal, glass, textiles and wood. Learn more at
