Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Episode 16 In this episode, titled “Close Encounters,” “A” beats the Pretty Little Liars to the Busy Bee Inn, where he seems to have kidnapped Alison. But Hanna thinks that scenario seems suspicious. Turns out Hanna is right. Ali makes an appearance in the latest episode, “Close Encounters” and she’s still afraid that “A’s” going to catch her. Or is she? Spencer’s dad Peter is also acting suspiciously. Looks like he’s in cahoots with his ex-lover Mrs. DiLaurentis. Meanwhile Alison delivers a message via Shana, who has known about Ali being alive since Mona went to Radley! The more that is revealed about Ali, the more one starts to wonder if the Liars are just wasting their time/lives looking for this girl? If only the foursome liked normal people like Jake. Maybe then they could move on with their lives.
Apparently Emily was Ali’s favorite. Not because Emily is a great girl. Oh no. Because Emily “loved Ali the most.” Ummm – how egotistical can Ali get? That explanation alone should be reason enough to stop looking for the girl. Emily’s run-in with Shana reveals a few things: 1.) Alison supposedly asked Shana to come to Rosewood to try and figure out who is after her and Jenna’s on the list of suspects! 2.) Shana knows Ali because she grew up next to Ali’s grandparents. 3.) Shana insists that she’s not really friends with Jenna. “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” Shana reveals. Emily wants Shana to prove herself. So she asks Shana what Ali told her outside the barn when the Liars were looking for Dr. Sullivan. Oddly Emily won’t even tell her best friends that Ali gave her a choice to stay or go. They then shared a kiss. The Liars think Shana is lying about Ali. They believe Shana is one of “A’s” minions, who is trying to get the foursome to stop looking for Ali so “A” can find her.
But when Shana comes through with what was said outside the barn, Emily decides to meet Ali on her own. She makes the mistake of telling Spencer beforehand. When Emily finally comes face to face with a teary eyed Ali, her old friend reveals that she can’t trust the other Liars. “Help me find “A” so I can come home,” Ali says. Then Spencer, who followed Emily, interrupts the conversation and Ali makes a run for it. (One would think that after all of these years of sneaking around, Spence would know how to stay quiet!) Emily is livid with Spencer. But Spence is convinced that Ali is up to no good and wants to divide the Liars. One more reason to stop wasting time trying to find Ali! She sure doesn’t seem like a good friend.
Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna in neighboring town Ravenswood as they search for Alison. Following the Season 4 summer finale, “Now You See Me, Now You Don’t” the Liars learned that Alison didn’t actually die the night she went missing, but instead that she was rescued by Mrs. Grunwald. Revealing Alison’s twin.
It seems insane to think that Alison managed to fake her own death completely on her lonesome, which means we’re dying to know who else knows about her not-deadness. We really hope the answer(s) involves characters we already know, rather than more Mrs. Grunwald-types — who are cool, but recent developments we don’t already have a history with. Extra points if one of the Liars has been in on it since the beginning. Double extra points if that Liar is Spencer.
We love PLL-related logistics and, right now, we’re trying to work out just how Alison survived on her own for so long. Where has she been? Has she been alone? Where has she gotten the money to survive? We would watch a whole spin-off show filling in the gaps of the time between Alison disappeared and now. We would call it Pretty Little Liars: Life on the Run, and it would have Alison finding a new job under a new alias every week. One week, she would be a kindergarten teacher. The next, a brain surgeon. “A” constantly on her tail. But, if we can’t get the spin-off, we’ll just take the answer.
We have some guesses when it comes to why Alison faked her own death, but it’s hard to imagine what would drive a teenaged girl to such drastic extremes. The Liars have been tormented by “A” for a few years now, and they’ve still managed to avoid faking their own deaths. There has to be more to this story, and we’re dying to find out what it is!
OK, this one better be addressed considering it’s the name of the freakin’ episode! With the reveal of Alison’s not-deadness in the Halloween episode, came a whole host of questions. The question of who’s currently buried inside of Ali’s casket is one of them. Hanna seems to think it’s a chick called Sara Harvey, a girl from a nearby town who disappeared around the same time Alison did, but would the show really give us the answer so easily? We’ll just have to tune in to find out!
Pretty Little Liars walks a fine line between giving us the answers we so desperately crave and revealing so much there is no mystery left to intrigue. So far, we think the show has done a pretty good job of balancing the two, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have some demands for the winter premiere. Here are five questions we want answered ASAP.
The Pretty Little Liars Season 4 winter premiere is just a few days away (Season 4, Episode 14: “Who’s in the Box”), but the wait is still unbearable. Fortunately, we have a ton of sneak peeks to help get us to next Tuesday, and they tell us a fair amount about the episode.
We've taken a close look at all five sneak peeks right here, to see what they reveal about what we can expect when Pretty Little Liars returns next Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) both have a lot on their plates on Pretty Little Liars Season 4, but so far, they've stuck together through it all, and a new sneak peek of the Season 4 winter premiere (Season 4, Episode 14: “What’s in the Box?”) should make Spoby fans grin with glee.
In this clip of the episode, Toby pulls up in his truck, evoking a huge grin from Spencer. "Hey," she tells him casually. "Hey," he replies. But it quickly become clear Spencer is more than a little happy to have her boy back.
"I think you should probably hold me right now. Otherwise I'm going to explode and you will have to explain that to the custodians," she says with a smile before Toby pulls her in for a hug.
It turns out he's been gone for almost two weeks looking for info on his mom, and obviously, Spencer totally missed him. The good news is that he at least found "some" answers about his mom, though they weren't enough.
The bad news? This lovely moment is ruined by Mona rolling by and honking at them. That girl always has the worst timing.
