Hello, my name is Todd Mason, and I am excited and honored to be a part of Legacy Leadership Academy. I was born and raised in Statesville, N.C. and love calling North Carolina my home. I went to East Carolina University where I received a B.A. in Health Sciences. Upon completion of my degree, I was hired by NorthEast Medical as a Health Specialist and worked for the hospital for over five years. After designing and teaching an adolescent wellness program for NorthEast Medical Institute, I realized I had a passion for teaching and wanted to pursue a career in education.
I was fortunate enough to be a founding teacher/athletic director at Davidson Day School for seven years where I taught Health and Wellness for the pre-k-9th grade, as well as social studies for grades 4th-9th. I took a break from teaching and went back to school to obtain my NMBT from The Edmund Morgan School of Neuromuscular Therapy. I thoroughly enjoyed working with people to rehabilitate injuries and recover from post-operative procedures, but I missed teaching. I am currently pursuing an M.A. in Social Sciences from The Gilder Lehrman Institute.
For me, teaching has always been about inspiring curiosity, innovation, and a multi-dimensional perspective within my students. One of my goals is to create and cultivate a collaborative learning environment where students feel immersed and challenged not only by the curriculum being taught, but also from other student’s life experiences and perspectives. We learn just as much from each other as we do from a textbook.
Legacy Leadership Academy represents all of these things and more to me. Through incredible tools as Covey’s “Leader in Me” program and Gallup’s StrengthFinder assessment, our students, will not just understand their individual strengths. They will also learn how to develop and get the most out of their respective abilities. I look forward to getting to know you and your families as we embark on this incredible journey together.
