Lander Care & Share Food Bank

Serving Lander families since the 1980's

How does The Lander Care & Share Food Bank Serve Lander? Lander Care and Share Food Bank provides emergency food assistance to persons in need, regardless of income. Lander community members have operated the Food Bank for almost 30 years. At times, local residents and families have found themselves facing food insecurity for various reasons: temporary unemployment, homelessness, low-income jobs, or gaps in government assistance programs. The Food Bank is a valuable and unique resource for those facing a critical shortage of one of life’s basic necessities.

How will your Challenge for Charities donation to Lander Care & Share Food Bank make a difference in Lander this year? This year’s Challenge for Charities funds will go directly to the purchase of nutritious, non-perishable food items that are distributed to clients on a monthly basis. The Food Bank shops locally for supplemental items so a large portion of the proceeds also support Lander area commerce.

How else can you help Lander Care & Share Food Bank? The Food Bank is almost 100% community-supported. In addition to donations, volunteers are welcome to assist the Food Bank by unloading the monthly delivery truck from Food Bank of the Rockies and stocking the shelves for Food Bank clients.

What else? Funds from the 2013 Challenge for Charities were used to help provide emergency food assistance to over 13,000 local individuals. An all-time record of 62 families were served on November 26, 2013. The Food Bank works closely with other charitable Lander services such as the backpack program, First Stop Help Center, the United Methodist Thrift Shop, Centsible Nutrition and the Christmas Baskets.

Challenge for Charities is a community fundraiser benefiting 35 nonprofits from May 1 - July 11, 2014.
