Governor Mead and Republic of Korea Delegation Visit Wyoming Veterans Museum in Casper

Today, at the Parkway Plaza, Governor Matt Mead accompanied by a small delegation from the Republic of Korea presented a special Ambassador for Peace medal to Korean War veterans.  After the ceremony, the governor, Consul General, Deputy Consul General, Major General Luke Reiner, Veterans Commission Chairman Linda Allgeier and Vice Chairman Lee Alley visited the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum for lunch provided by Bullwhip Catering. All of the dignitaries were able to see the museum and the Republic of Korea Consul General remarked to museum staff how much he enjoyed the lunch provided by Bullwhip.

The medal is a sincere expression of appreciation from the Korean government to American service personnel who served in the Korean War.  Originally, the medal was designed for those service men and women who returned to South Korea through the "Revisit Program."  Now, the medal has been opened to those who cannot travel to Korea as well as deceased veterans.

Bill Seid, U.S. Navy veteran and Wyoming Veterans Museum Volunteer received his medal today and attended the luncheon held at the museum.

The program and visit to the museum was well received by all.  It was lovely genuine thank you from the Republic of Korea to those who had served during the Korean War.
