7 Writers, 7 Directors and 7 Actors Come Together for The Elephant Theatre Company and Create Now Benefit Performances of “L.A. RONDE”

LOS ANGELES (April 10, 2015) – Some of Hollywood’s brightest talents are coming together to create the unique stage production, L.A. RONDE, benefiting the celebrated Elephant Theatre Company and the youth mentoring organization, Create Now. This fundraising event will encompass three special 99-seat theater performances on April 21, 22, & 23 at 8pm at The Lillian Theater in Los Angeles.

Pulling from German author Arthur Schnitzler’s original “La Ronde” as inspiration, L.A. RONDE is an exploration of the dynamics within an intimate Los Angeles theater company. Led by Pagan Urich (known to local audiences by her burlesque alias, Scarlet O'Gasm), seven characters examine the struggling small-theater scene through a series of show-mances, discovering what goes around does indeed come around.

Twenty-one talented individuals from film, television and theater were brought together to write, direct and star in this special production. The Writers include: Shem Bitterman (The Job), Bekah Brunstetter (Switched at Birth), Gloria Calderon Kellett (iZombie, Rules of Engagement, How I Met Your Mother), Adria Lang (Helix, Sons of Anarchy), Nikki McCauley (Side Effects of Barry), Eli Rarey (The Famous Joe Project) and Tom Stanczyk (Block Nine). The Director are: Deana Barone (The Trunk Show), Bren Coombs (The Hypnotist), Tony Gatto (Trapped at The Elephant), Eric Hunicutt (The Armando Show), Adam Hunter (Poor Dog Group), Casey Kringlen (Queer Classics) and J. Anthony McCarthy (Castle). Rounding out the cast of Actors are: Kim Alexander (The Romantics), Anita Curran (Virtual Reality), Kate Huffman (Fresh Off the Boat), Scott Krinsky (Chuck), Ethan Rains (NCIS), Adam Simon (Tracers at The Elephant) and Pagan Urich (Star Girls Burlesque).

The Elephant Theatre’s Artistic Director David Fofi is letting his elephants on the loose for this updated version, which delivers an ironic relevance considering the current local theatre climate. Fofi explains, “By the time this workshop production opens (April 21st), the members of Actors' Equity will have decided the fate of intimate theater in Los Angeles. So, this may be your last look at the waiver world as we knew it.”

Founded in 1996, the Elephant Theatre Company is known for producing original work that delivers theatrical daring, invention and imagination. This multiple Los Angeles Theatre Awards company includes 75-plus members comprised of actors, designers, directors, and stage managers. The Elephant has built four theatres, which include: The Lillian Theatre, The Elephant Space, The Elephant Lab, and The Elephant ASYLUM.
