Big Lots! Names O'Keefe, Reinhard & Paul Agency of Record

Chicago, IL,  January 27, 2014 – Leading national discount retailer Big Lots has awarded Chicago agency O’Keefe, Reinhard & Paul (OKRP) its agency of record account following a review.

Known for selling a wide variety of brand-name closeouts, furniture, food, and gifts, Big Lots is putting a new emphasis on integrated marketing under new Chief Customer Officer Andrew Stein to maximize advertising, marketing and digital spending with more tactical solutions.  Stein was most recently at Kmart (Sears Holdings) where he was the Chief Marketing Officer and led the development of their viral successes like Ship My Pants.

“Big Lots is engaging with our customer in new ways, and we were looking for an agency that understood our challenges and needs in a fast-changing marketplace,” noted Stein.  “We presented OKRP with a project, and they came back to us in a very short time with terrific ideas that aligned with our vision while proving their executional excellence and speed to market. They are a great partner for Big Lots.”

The first new work from OKRP for Big Lots is expected to launch in early February.  The initial work will be digital with extensions across traditional marketing channels.

“With new offerings on almost a daily basis, Big Lots needs quick-to-market creative strategies that can be executed efficiently across channels and have immediate impact,” said Tom O’Keefe, CEO of OKRP.  “As a scrappy upstart, we’ve created a structure that provides grown-up talent with digital heart and a production process that delivers highly cost-effective turnaround. We are excited to help drive results for Big Lots.”
