Columbus Museum of Art Invites You to Imagine! The Art of the Picturebook
(Columbus, Oh) – Experience the magic of storytelling in Imagine! The Art of the Picturebook on view at the Columbus Museum of Art June 20 – September 28, 2014. This exhibition explores the art of children’s picturebooks through illustrations from the collection of Carol and Guy Wolfenbarger, Columbus natives.
The original drawings, paintings, prints and collages come from well-known illustrators such as Floyd Cooper, Peter Catalanotto, Will Hillenbrand, E.B. Lewis, Barry Moser, Chris Raschka, Aminah Robinson, Maurice Sendak, and Robert Sabuda. Works of art are presented according to the stories they help to tell. Thanks to a partnership with Columbus Metropolitan Library, visitors can enjoy a specially selected Pop-Up Library in the exhibition space.

Leonard Marcus, children’s picturebook historian and author is also one of the most trusted critics in the field. His incisive book reviews appeared in every issue of Parenting magazine for 21 years. He currently reviews for The New York Times Book Review, among other publications, and speaks to parents and professional groups throughout the U.S. and around the world. Ohio author/illustrator Will Hillenbrand demonstrates the creative process he has used in writing and illustrating more than fifty picturebooks. Several examples of his work appear in Imagine! The Columbus Museum of Art creates great experiences with great art for everyone. The Greater Columbus Arts Council, Nationwide Foundation, Ohio Arts Council, and the Charlotte R. Haller, Lewis K. CMA and the Museum Store are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, and until 8:30 pm every Thursday. The Palette Express is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Museum admission is $12 for adults; $8 for seniors and students 17 and older with valid id; $5 for students 6 - 17; and free for members and children 5 and younger.
