Aspen/Snowmass, CO, January 7, 2014–Aspen Mountain will be the site of a torchlight descent and fireworks display this Saturday, January 11 as part of Aspen’s Wintersköl celebration.
Skiers and snowboarders are invited to participate in the torchlight descent. Interested participants are asked to meet at the bottom of the Little Nell lift at 7:30 p.m. Up to 150 people can participate — on a first-come, first-served basis. Children are welcome, those 12 and under will receive battery torches. All participants must sign a waiver.
It is recommended that riders and skiers wear old clothing, as real flares will be distributed to those over 12 years old. The torchlight descent begins at 8:00 p.m. down the Little Nell run, and will be immediately followed by a fireworks display at 8:15 p.m. Aspen Skiing Company also recommends that participants wear helmets.
