Paseo Nuevo Celebrates Heart Health with Free Classes and Events

Free Events, CPR Training, Fitness Classes and Retailer Discounts Increase Heart Health Awareness at Popular Downtown Santa Barbara Shopping Destination

Santa Barbara, Calif. (January 28, 2016) – This February, as part of National Heart Health Month, Paseo Nuevo Shops and Restaurants ( will host free family activities, CPR training, fitness classes and offer discounts to create awareness of the number one killer of women, Heart Disease.

“One in three women die of heart disease and stroke each year, yet it’s 80% preventable, explained Michael Morgan, General Manager of Paseo Nuevo Shops and Restaurants. “As a popular gathering destination in downtown Santa Barbara, we’re in a position to help educate an engage the community about this critical topic and create local change.”

Here’s the lineup of this Paseo Nuevo’s Heart Healthy activities to help increase awareness this February:

February 4

On Thursday, February 4, guests can stop by and make a Valentine’s Day card with reusable materials provided by Art from Scrap from 5 to 7 p.m. in Center Court. Remind that special someone to take care of their heart and help bring awareness to someone you love.

California Pizza Kitchen will donate 20% of diners’ checks to the American Heart Association Central Coast Division if they show the Pizza with a Purpose flyer from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on February 4. February 5

As part of National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 5, the Santa Barbara community is invited to “Rock their Red” and join in the Wear Red Day Strut and Celebration starting at State and Carrillo Streets at 12:15 p.m. and ending at Paseo Nuevo at approximately 1:15 pm. At the conclusion of the strut, Paseo Nuevo will host an event with free hands-only CPR training, samples from Pressed Juicery, Aveda stress-fix products, Heart Walk information, giveaways and a free KIND bar just for wearing red! #kindawesome.

Shop participating Paseo Nuevo stores all day on February 5 for special offers to those wearing red. At Macy’s, guests can purchase a red dress pin for $3 from February 3-8 and enjoy 25% off savings discount when wearing the pin.

February 19

Fitness Fridays! Get your heart strong with a free fitness class lead by IM=X Pilates from 10 to 11 a.m. in Center Court. Show up to win free classes, fitness gear and giveaways. After the class, sample a juice cleanse at Pressed Juicery, get a relaxing neck and shoulder treatment at Aveda and enjoy savings on active wear at Lorna Jane.
