MEET THE AUTHORS OF AMERICA’S FORGOTTEN STUDENT POPULATION July 16th, 2014

On July 16, 2014, editor Dr. Angela Long and contributor, Dr. Pamela Blumenthal, will be signing copies of their new book, America’s Forgotten Student Population.

This new book sheds light on a critical yet overlooked topic of the 21st century: the high dropout rate of GED certificate holders entering the postsecondary educational system in America. America’s Forgotten Student Population serves as a comprehensive resource for administrators, educational policy makers and researchers, offering both broad policy recommendations and tested ideas and models that can be implemented at the state and institutional level.

About the Authors:  

Angela Long is an educational researcher, educator, and author of the "Five Factors Theory;" currently serves as an independent consultant in higher education. She works with leaders across the nation to publish groundbreaking data and retention metrics for at-risk student populations attending community colleges. Pam Blumenthal is the director of alternative programs at Portland Community College (PCC) in Portland, Oregon. She now leads a group of dedicated staff in five programs designed to support at-risk students in achieving college success and completion. Pam is actively involved in local and national initiatives focused on education reform.
