(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College's Center for Economic Education is pleased to announce that two students in the College service area won First Place in the Pennsylvania InvestWrite Competition, a national writing competition produced by the Stock Market Game Program.
Steven Imler, a 2014 graduate of First Baptist Christian School in Butler, finished first in the Pennsylvania InvestWrite Competition for Grades 9-12 and fourth in the National InvestWrite Competition. Imler's teacher was Valerie Shaffer.
Olivia Pezich, a seventh grade student at Haine Middle School in Cranberry Township, finished first in the Pennsylvania InvestWrite Competition for Grades 6-8 and 15th in the National InvestWrite Competition. Pezich's teacher was Stacey Harding.
Approximately 20,000 students nationwide participate in the InvestWrite Competition each year, developing the financial savvy needed to make real-world financial decisions. The Pennsylvania InvestWrite Competition is sponsored by EconomicsPennsylvania. The National InvestWrite Competition is sponsored by the Council for Economic Education.
Teacher training for the InvestWrite Competition and the Stock Market Game is made available through the BC3 Center for Economic Education. David C. Huseman is the Director of the BC3 Center for Economic Education and Cindy Morgan is the Project Coordinator of the Stock Market Game. Funding is provided by local businesses and private donors.
