Tommy Caldwell to Present at 5Point Film in Carbondale, CO

Climber to make first public appearance since his ascent of Yosemite’s Dawn Wall in January

April 16, 2015 (Carbondale, CO) - 5Point Film Festival announces that professional climber, Tommy Caldwell, will be attending the April 23-26, 5Point Film Festival located in the heart of Carbondale, Colorado, in his first public appearance since his first free ascent of the Dawn Wall in January.

“In successfully finishing a 7-year long commitment to free climb Yosemite’s Dawn Wall, Tommy Caldwell embodies 5Point,” comments Sarah Wood, executive director for the 5Point Film Festival. “He is one of the most humble, committed athletes, pushing his boundaries in the vertical world, and has an incredible life story to share. We are thrilled to bring Caldwell to the Carbondale community.”

At 5Point, Caldwell will be part of a historic presentation including Lynn Hill and other notable Yosemite Valley climbers. He will also be on stage for a special presentation and screening of a working cut of A Line Across the Sky; a film that documents Tommy and Alex Honnold’s first ascent of the Fitz Traverse, in Patagonia, Argentina.

Sunday, April 26, Program VI-2PM  YOSEMITE SUNDAY: A special 5Point live presentation with Tommy Caldwell and Lynn Hill, celebrating Yosemite Valley and featuring clips from the Dawn Wall (***program to follow a community brunch -- $12, or $17 for both).

About Tommy Caldwell  Tommy’s dad taught him to embrace fear and doubt and turn them into inspiration. Given this attitude, Tommy has established some of the hardest routes in the country and free climbed 13 routes on El Capitan in Yosemite. He believes difficult journeys, with little chance for success, teach him the most.
