Have You Lost Touch With Your Authentic Self?

Mary Clare Bland, Founder of S3 Coaching, is excited to be co-leading a retreat October 17-19, 2014, titled "Reconnect With Your Authentic Self." The retreat will take place at the idyllic Hamptons Retreats Center, in Hampton Bays, Long Island. It is a one and a half hour drive from New York City.

Getting in touch with one's Authentic Self has become a bit of a buzzword lately. Dr. Phil has spoken about it, The Huffington Post has written articles about it- the cosmetic line Amore Pacific is even using it to market a new foundation.

According to Mary Clare, "Authenticity has become fashionable because it resonates with people on a very deep level. Technology has created many wonderful opportunities. It is helping people be more productive, making it easy to keep in touch with people all over the world- even curing diseases. But the flip side of this is darker. Technology has caused the world to speed up. People are spending so much time trying to stay on top of their workloads and meet societal expectations of achievement that they've lost touch with what internally motivates them. This retreat was designed by fellow Life Coach Sharon de Korte and I to help people get in touch with who they are and what they want out of life. Participants will regain a sense of calm and serenity, and 'Regain Control of the Ship.'"

Do you ever feel incomplete? Like there's a "hole in your soul?" This is a sign of not being in touch with your authentic self. Often times, the more successful one is, the more out of touch they become with their heart's desire. This is because highly successful people spend so much time helping others, or being what they perceive society requires them to be, that they put their own needs on hold. The longer this happens, the more ingrained the behavior becomes. Eventually it becomes a habit. Symptoms may include anxiety, sleeplessness, feelings of isolation and disconnection, or feeling that your life energy is being drained. This retreat, "Reconnect With You Authentic Self," uses a combination of scientifically proven mindfulness techniques and interactive coaching sessions to help people reverse ingrained habits of self-denial and repression, and design lives that will bring them greater fulfillment.
